About the Speaker
Anne Cheng is a French Sinologist. She teaches at the Collège de France and specializes in Chinese history and the history of Chinese philosophy.
 
For more than forty years, she has carried out her teaching and research work on the intellectual history of China, in particular on Confucianism, first within the framework of the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research), then from Inalco (National Institute of Oriental Languages ​​and Civilizations), before being appointed to the Institut Universitaire de France and, shortly after, elected to the Collège de France.
 
She is the author of a French translation of the Confucius Interviews, a study on Confucianism at the start of the imperial era, and a History of Chinese Thought translated into many European and Oriental languages. She has also directed several collective works, including Thought in China today (Gallimard, 2007), Readings and uses of the Great Study: China, Korea, Japan (Collège de France, 2015), and so on.
